LECTURER – LAW

As a lecturer – law, you are responsible for providing theoretical and practical teaching in the field of law. He designs educational programs, conducts course sessions, evaluates students and advises them in their academic career. They can also contribute to research in their area of expertise. Among the skills and notions transmitted, we find:

• Business Law :

- Sources and Categories of Law

- Labor law

-Civil liability

- Organization of the company

- Privacy and information security

- Impact of technologies on intellectual property

- Insolvency and bankruptcy

- Contracts (the E-contract)

• Transport Law:

- Legal sources (federal and provincial)

- Contract theory (sales, insurance, labor, freight, transportation, bill of lading)

- Modes of transportation (air, road, marine, rail)

- Incoterms (liability, insurance)

- Highway Safety Code (HSC for drivers, truck securement, etc.)

- Penal Code associated with transport

- Transportation of Dangerous Goods

- Permitted truck types (dimensions)

- Types of authorization for each type of transport (hazardous materials, bulk, etc.)

- Driving hours (U.S. vs. Canada)

-Matriculation

- Permits required at the port

• Law Media and Advertising Principles:

- The law and its organization

- The legal framework specific to the media and advertising economy

- Risk management of an advertising or media project

- The Canadian Code of Advertising Standards

- Adding an extra layer of complexity with the digital world and social media

- The limits of freedom of expression and trade and consumer protection and the right to privacy

- Misleading and deceptive advertising

- Unlawful practices

- Intellectual property

- Contract law, including commercial contracts

- Individual labour law

Status: Contract –Fall 2024 session

Location: Lasalle College, Montreal, Quebec

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan class sessions ;
• Deliver sessions in a dynamic, efficient and structured manner ;
• Design formative and summative assessments using the competency-based approach ;
• Administer and correct assessments ;
• Monitor each student and encourage success ;
• Be available to students in order to promote their development of the skill targeted by the course ;
• All other related tasks.

REQUIREMENTS

• You must be legally entitled to work in Canada;
• Hold a university certificate or diploma or a college diploma, with an option or concentration in the discipline concerned;
• Teaching or have teaching experience in the discipline for one full semester within the last five (5) years;
• Have practised a trade or profession related to the discipline or course in question for at least two (2) years.

This role involves interaction with internal and external clients and partners on a national and global scale. Professional proficiency in English is therefore a requirement for this role.
