Job description

Job Summary

To ensure the timely completion of the Biweekly Payroll and distribution of employees’ payroll. In addition to completing all payroll related entries and their reconciliation.

  • Supervise the work of the Payroll Specialist.
  • Co-ordinate the transfer of employee information from OnTrack to Ceridian Dayforce and perform audits on the information for accuracy.
  • Monitor and supervise the hourly vacation accrual, payments and records.
  • Maintain the salaried vacation accounts, reconciling monthly. To be distributed to department heads.
  • Ensure compliance with leve1, level 2, and subsequent Chelsea Hotels policies and controls as well as collective agreement.
  • Review set up of pension, and submit contribution to Sunlife.
  • Review, set up and submit union contributions.
  • Audit payroll deductions and remittances and reconcile monthly.
  • Ensure the accurate reporting and submission of employee source deduction.
  • Oversee the review of all pay statements prior to employee source deductions.
  • Prepare / Audit manual cheque requests.
  • Ensure the speedy and accurate preparation of any Records of Employment.
  • Liaison with Government offices for reporting and verification of account status. (I.e. E.I., C.P.P.)
  • Process the Year End.
  • Analyse requirements for and prepare the annual T4s, T4A’s, W.S.I.B. and E.H.T.
  • Maintain an up to date working knowledge of Federal and Provincial payroll legislation.
  • Maintain Ceridian Dayforce systems data files.
  • Process salaried payroll.
  • Audit payroll entries done by HR and Payroll Specialist.
  • Audit and balance payroll to review register.
  • Other duties as required.

Business

  • Journalise the payroll transactions to the general ledger bi-weekly.
  • Prepare (bi-weekly / monthly) reports for accounting and HR.
  • Customer Satisfaction

  • Training of new Managers and Timekeepers on Dayforce.
  • Complete and remit Government forms when so requested by Employees, internal Management or Government bodies.
  • Process Improvement / Productivity

  • Reconcile, on a monthly basis all payroll related accounts.
  • Monthly Audit of Sun Life Benefits.
  • Requirement .

    Working Experience

  • 3-5 years payroll experience at a supervisory / management level
  • Knowledge

  • Ceridian Dayforce, Excel, Accounting knowledge (Balance Sheet and Journal Entries.
  • Advance level knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of report writing software.
  • Education

  • Canadian Payroll Certification (or working towards)
  • Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills
