Intent of the process

The intent of this inventory is to create a pool or partially assessed pool of candidates to fill similar or identical positions with various language profiles, durations (term, indeterminate, assignment, secondment, acting appointment and deployment) and conditions of employment in Veterans Affairs Canada.

ED1 - Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Note :

1.Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and / or experience.

They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.

2.Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, , who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and / or experience.

They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.

3.At the managers discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above.

Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Experience :

Recent* experience working in an IT environment.

Recent' is defined as experience obtained within the last five years.

Competencies :

Abilities :

AB1 - Ability to communicate effectively orally

AB2 - Ability to communicate in writing

Important : Because various IT teams will be using this inventory to staff their job vacancies, each area has their own unique list of asset qualifications that are specifically related to their IT domain.

Candidates may be required to meet the asset qualifications or the organizational needs, depending on the requirements of the specific position being staffed.

AQ1 - Experience as a member of Canadian Armed Forces.

AQ2 - Recent* experience working in an IT operations environment. i.e., Information Technology Service Desk, Information Technology Helpdesk or Call Centre.

AQ3 - Recent* experience in providing IT support on site to clients.

AQ4 - Recent* experience in providing IT support by phone to clients.

AQ5 - Recent* experience in using or administering an IT Service Management (ITSM) tool such as IFS assyst.

AQ6 - Experience in developing IT Software or IT Data solutions.

Recent' is defined as experience obtained within the last five years.

Operational Requirements :

Willingness and ability to work non-standard / traditional work hours, and / or overtime, and / or On-Call.

Willingness and ability to travel.

Some positions may require the physical ability to lift and install IT equipment.

Conditions of Employment :

Reliability status or Secret security clearance depending on the position being staffed.
