The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice to join our Mines Maintenance Team working on site in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position.

Applicants will need to be registered with Manitoba apprenticeship and successfully completed level 1. As a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on a diverse fleet of underground mobile equipment as well as assisting other maintenance employees as required.

• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections according to scheduled plans and check equipment for optimal performance.
• Complete breakdown and corrective reports, as well as minor maintenance documentation.
• Test and adjust repaired systems to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and operational needs.
• Repair or replace defective equipment parts and components as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and other regular upkeep.
• Carry out final safety inspections and provide actionable improvement suggestions to supervisors and planners.
