The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to support the delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects within Wood’s Bio Products portfolio. You will be responsible for performing structural analysis and design in accordance with applicable codes and standards, while working collaboratively with project teams across multiple disciplines.
The role involves contributing to projects from detailed design through construction support, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting safe, high‑quality project execution.

Responsibilities
Completion of structural design and analysis to applicable codes and standardsPerform structural steel and concrete designPreparation of technical reports and calculation packages as project deliverablesPerform checks on other engineers’ designMentoring and supporting more junior engineersWorking with designers on the project collaboratively to produce design deliverablesReview project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation against project standards and specificationsAuthenticate structural engineering deliverablesInterface with other disciplines and project management to execute work per the Project PlanInterface with workshare team from other Wood global officesWork in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Wood and its clientsConduct field reviews at project work sitesQualifications
Must be legally able to work in Canada at the time of applicationGraduate or Undergraduate Engineering Degree in EngineeringMust be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC or APEGA5 to 10 years of relevant EPC experience in structural designBroad experience designing structures in Oil & Gas and Pulp & Paper projectsIn‑depth knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada (Alberta Edition)Strong background and experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete designComprehensive knowledge of the requirements of CSA S16 and CSA A23.3Proficiency in modeling and analysis using SAP2000, RISA 3D, and STAADProExperience in design of modification to existing facilitiesField construction support experienceAbility to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple assignmentsStrong technical writing skills; experienced in the preparation of correspondence and technical reportsEffective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skillsAbility to work both independently and in a multi‑disciplinary team environmentWillingness to travel and accept short‑term field assignmentsMotivated by working with people, through internal collaboration or with external clientsLoves to share knowledge, experiences, and expertise with others to assist, mentor and coach less experienced members of the team in their developmentAbout Us
