The National Diabetes Trust (NDT) is Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household goods collection service. With over 5,000 donation bins and a home pick‑up service across Canada (excluding Quebec), NDT collects unwanted gently used items to raise funds for Diabetes Canada.
Job Title : Charitable Donations Pickup Driver (Part‑Time)
Hourly Wage : $19.25

About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Driver will operate a 3‑ton straight truck on established routes to collect donated clothing and household items from customers’ homes and designated bins. Deliverments will be made to partner facilities while ensuring safe, compliant driving and vehicle maintenance.
Promote the NDT mission to the public and volunteers.Operate vehicles in compliance with laws and company safety standards.Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.Complete required daily paperwork : trip logs, Hours‑of‑Service logs, and dispatch notes.Maintain valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and safety documentation.Check in with dispatch at route start, mid‑day, and end.Provide message cards to donors.Unload merchandise per instructions and return equipment to office.Report route discrepancies and ensure only authorized personnel ride in the truck.Participate in all required NDT driving education and initiatives.Perform additional duties to support Operations as needed.Qualifications
Grade 12 education or equivalent experience.Ability to read maps and handle loads of 10–50 lbs.Experience driving a 3‑ton straight truck.Strong organizational skills and efficient route planning.Professional, positive public image and excellent communication skills.Calm demeanor with upset clients; strong customer service orientation.Clear written and verbal instruction following ability.Good command of English.Full Class 5 or G license (or higher) – passenger car or light truck.Minimum 5 years of commercial driving experience (or 2 years with professional commercial training).Clean driving abstract (less than 21 days old) with no violations or accidents in the last 3 years.Benefits
