School Bus Dispatcher
School Bus Dispatcher Clerk III (MGEU) 9 : 30 AM - 5 : 30 PM The Transportation Section is part of the Secretary-Treasurer's Department and is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of almost 100 division-owned school buses, including routing, scheduling, bus maintenance and the training of all bus drivers, in accordance with division policy and The Public Schools Act.
- This is a full-time, 12-month permanent position.Under the direction of the Supervisor of Transportation and the Assistant Supervisor of Transportation, the school bus dispatcher is responsible for the following : Dispatching driver and equipment to ensure that daily operational needs are met;
- Contacting the proper responders in the event of an emergency or accident; Interacting with outside organizations and schools to resolve operational issues;
- Providing assistance to school bus drivers through face-to-face contact or via radio communication; Assisting with situations that may arise near the end of the day and stay after hours on short notice;
- Maintaining a log of the day's events including service operating late, breakdowns, accidents and emergencies; Collecting information from school bus drivers such as log sheets, mileage checks, fuel reads and no shows;
- Receiving, scheduling and confirming requests for field trips, work experience, swim classes and shops, etc.; Receiving field trip billings and processing them for journal ing and billing to schools;
- Recording and implementing changes in transportation for special circumstances such as early dismissals or field trips; and Providing general office assistance including the preparation of general correspondence and responding to general inquiries;
Track, trace and report; Mayet, CIMS, info finder and route finder routing and transportation specific programs. Qualifications : Completion of secondary education, 3 years of office experience and relevant coursework / training Experience with routing and scheduling software Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel at an intermediate level Accurate keyboarding of at least 45 words per minute Demonstrated experience with division software (Admin Connect / Absence Management) Ability to prioritize a large workload and work independently Ability to work in a fast paced environment and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines Demonstrated problem solving skills Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality How to apply : Click the button "Apply Online" and log into your account.
