About the role :
At Compass ELC you will work as a Pedagogical Culture Lead supporting and mentoring some of the most passionate, caring, and dedicated educators.
You will work collaboratively with the Co-Culture Leads to foster and support a program with a deepening culture of reflective practice and growing pedagogy aligned with Compass ELC’s vision, values, pedagogical themes, cultural elements, strategic plan and How Does Learning Happen.
You will model and grow a perspective of equity and strive for a deeper understanding of cultural awareness. Hours will be based on program needs and funding.
This role will support our five City of Kawartha Lakes school age programs with focussed pedagogy time, team meetings, book studies, professional learning goals, side by sides, and supporting as a school-age educator in ratio on an as-needed basis.
The five school age programs are located at Jack Callaghan Public School, Woodville Public School, Leslie Frost Public School, Fenelon Township
You will work hours per week Monday to Friday. Shift start and end times will fluctuate within the program's hours.
Key Responsibilities Include :
- Build relationships and work collaboratively with co-workers, families, community partners, and children to grow a supportive and inclusive culture.
- Ensure the safety of staff and children by learning and acknowledging all children’s diverse needs, and backgrounds, and creating equitable opportunities for all children to engage.
- Engage and support professional learning that builds a culture of reflective practice and collaborative critical thinking.
- Encourage and foster the leadership of all staff in the team.
- Nurture a culture of collaboration, research & reflective practice that grows our community of learners and deepens our practice in alignment with our pedagogical orientations and strategic vision.
- Create systems and structures for focused pedagogical time with educators (including individual and team meetings, and intentional side-by-sides).
- Support the development & ongoing reflection of Professional Learning Goals.
- Support educators in bringing visibility to children’s learning and competencies using the Cycle of Inquiry, Visual Representation Protocol through research, and Storypark.
- Observe and document children’s learning, bringing visibility to children’s competencies, theories, ideas, and curiosities.
- Support the program in creating and maintaining aesthetically pleasing, rich learning environments indoors and outdoors to engage children's curious minds and lively bodies.

Skills and Qualifications :
Requirements :
- Minimum of year’s experience working in a licensed childcare environment
- Valid Drivers License
- Is passionate about early learning and care, emergent curriculum, and life-long learning.
- Is eager to grow your practice as a collaborator, researcher, facilitator, and learner.
- Has a natural disposition towards research and inquiry.
- Has a deep understanding of How Does Learning Happen, related legislation, Compass ELC policies and procedures, distributed leadership, Compass ELC’s foundation series, CCEYA (Child Care Early Years Act), Compass ELC’s Strategic Plan, and supporting a culture of a safe and joyful workplace.
- Is registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Possesses the training and documents required by the Ministry of Education to work in a childcare setting. Clear Police Vulnerable Sector CheckStandard First Aid and CPR Level CUpdated immunization records (Or a signed and notarized refusal of affidavit or medical exemption).
