Job description

Responsibilities

  • Act as a consultant to the leadership team providing strategic advice and guidance on the organization’s contract management strategy.
  • Provide expertise on best practices for developing and managing mega-project contracts, including strategies for oversight and reporting contract execution.
  • Provide leadership on the planning, oversight, and advice on types of standard contract documents and the reviewing and directing final contract preparation.
  • Provide expertise and work with local project management teams to develop and implement tactical solutions.
  • Manage the commercial team in the execution of contract work projects to ensure compliance with standard contract administration practices and policies.
  • Liaise and collaborate with Procurement and Legal teams relative to procurement and contract bid processes to ensure contract administration needs and requirements are addressed.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams in negotiations to resolve contractual disputes.
  • Oversee Commercial Management to ensure that :
  • Best practices are implemented, and good standards of corporate governance are adhered to;
  • Commercial issues are aligned with the project controls needs and contracting strategy;
  • Risks are identified, appropriate mitigation measures are established, and compliance is monitored;
  • Maintain accurate records for all contracts.
  • Provide expertise to the team by :
  • Working with the PMO Contract Manager to provide advice relating to the procurement strategy
  • Working with the Procurement Manager to provide contract advice relating to the procurement strategy;
  • Identification and mitigation of risks;
  • Strategize, review, and draft of contract special terms and conditions for inclusion in competitive documentation to align with the procurement strategy;
  • Review, evaluate and assess of contractual and legal implications of competitive submissions with Legal and Procurement Manager
  • Ensure the Commercial Management team :
  • Administer all matters relating to the execution of works under contracts including conformance, meetings, meeting minutes, instructions, payments, progress reporting, contract change management, claims, commercial and contractual matters, close-out and the like;
  • Coordinate with Procurement for advice and issue of contract exceptions and variations;
  • Provide periodic reports on the status of contracts under execution;
  • Liaise with the mega-Project team and other third parties in relation to contract management matters;
  • Control correspondence such as letters, faxes, emails, minutes, and the like, and are filed correctly;
  • Ensure all document and version control is applied to relevant documentation.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A 4-year University education in Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Construction / Project Management or related field; or an equivalent level of education.
  • Over 10 years of experience in contract management on mega-projects, developing contracting strategies, scope development, evaluation criteria and Project management and project controls requirements.
  • Experience developing, managing, and closing out large contracts (>
  • 1b) preferably multidisciplinary contracts (EPC / EPCM, Partnership / Alliance / IPD agreements)

  • Experience with construction process flows and managing procurement and project contracting approaches, systems, and procedures.
  • Excellent planning and contract management skills.
  • Proven organizational skills, a self-starter, and can work in a collaborative team environment that is dedicated to excellence.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated confidence and experience gained through working with executives at senior level and participating in senior management meetings. Requires experience in the preparation and presentation of proposals to senior management.
  • Ability to influence others at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work as part of a integrated and multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and building of high performance teams.
  • Skills in document management and record-keeping.
  • Experience in working with and maintaining the integrity of confidential information.
