Senior Buyer

Our client, a growing specialty food retailer located in the GTA, is seeking a Senior Buyer . The Buyer will utilize their existing food retail product knowledge and manage an assigned category of products including purchasing, sales, profitability, planning, vendor relationships, negotiations and SKU assortment.

They will coordinate activities involved with procurement of goods, review purchase orders and confirm with vendors on pricing, availability and delivery of products.

Key Responsibilities :

• Efficiently manage store inventory for optimal turnover and high service levels in assigned categories.
• Develop strategic plans for categories, including positioning, promotions, pricing, and inventory levels.
• Collaborate with store teams to advance strategic initiatives and optimize product merchandising.
• Devise sales and promotional strategies to achieve category targets, including advertising and seasonal opportunities.
• Cultivate vendor relationships, define product assortment and negotiate purchase order terms and conditions.
• Monitor industry activities, trends, and opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Qualifications

• 5+ years of merchandising AND / OR experience buying for a grocery store department.
• University degree in a business related field or equivalent.
• Ability to develop and implement tactical plans.
• Strong financial acumen (P&L).
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Products).
• Strong negotiation, forecasting, analytical, and presentation skills.
