The Technical Communications team is responsible for planning, managing, controlling, writing, and editing documentation for a variety of audiences. The material produced complies with a quality standard to effectively install and support our hardware and software products. There is great emphasis on organizational collaboration to ensure our customers are top priority.
The Role
Your experience as an intermediate - advanced level Technical Communicator and software skills are essential to your success in this role. You will work as part of a team, collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure that Pason products and services are simple to use, concisely explained, and clearly marketed. Some of the projects include developing online help content, connection diagrams and training videos. Your day consists of independent and cooperative work within a Knowledge Base team that prides itself on excellence. The emphasis of this role is placed on the investigation to gather the information that is of value to the audience. This role has a wide scope of variety that presents opportunities for professional growth.
The ideal candidate for this position would have a strong technical writing background, however software skills is an asset.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Interviewing, researching and gathering information to identify essential details.
- Writing, editing, and maintaining instructions for users of Pason’s proprietary hardware and software drilling industry solutions.
- Applying your CSS and HTML skills to create templates and content for the various delivery platforms throughout the organization.
- Using MS SharePoint workflows to manage and publish verified content.
- Monitoring and working with development teams to control and edit release notes, online help projects, UI text and dialog boxes.
- Establishing detailed processes to ensure existing content remains current, relevant, and useful.
- Using Jira ticketing system to organize deliverables and meet deadlines.
- Contributing to the creation and development of internal and external communication material, such as presentations and web pages.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Oil and Gas industry experience is complimentary to this role.Comprehension of software applications, DB architecture and functionality is an asset to deliver meaningful interpretations.Strong understanding of HTML and CSSProficient in MS SharePoint Online (e.g. : create / update web pages, modify list items, create views, permissions, create / update web parts)Solid writing and editing experience with a focus on clear, concise, and targeted deliverables.A strong belief in high-quality documentation that adheres to established standards.Curiosity about new technology and learning about cutting-edge hardware and software applications.Exceptional interpersonal skillsYou communicate your ideas clearly and efficiently and welcome constructive criticism.Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Self-motivated in a team environment where deliverables and timelines are essential.Ability to multi-task and investigate and ask questions to capture relevant data.Highly motivated to see tasks through to their conclusion independently and with expert attention to detail.Proficient when using illustrations, diagrams, and photographs.Comfortable discussing technical material and procedures with software developers, engineers, and other subject matter experts.Ability to probe and check for clarity on submissions from any department.Proficient in identifying high value content to ensure stakeholder engagement.Qualifications
