Shift : Monday to Friday – 40 hours
Overview
As a member of the plant leadership team, the Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring reliable, cost‑effective, and profitable operations while meeting or exceeding Safety, Environmental, Responsible Care® and Quality standards. This role includes leading manufacturing employees, coordinating with various departments, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of operational, process, and maintenance fundamentals
- 3+ years of leadership experience within manufacturing
- Must be a 3rd Class Power Engineer and registered with ABSA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
- Experience with Continuous Improvement processes is a key asset
Responsibilities
All responsibilities of a Steam Chief at a 3rd class facilityLead all manufacturing employees in safely operating the plant to meet production, quality, safety, and environmental goalsCollaborate with various departments to ensure all manufacturing and site objectives are metPlan, organize, and control daily operational activitiesSchedule and organize plant outages for maintenance activitiesInvestigate, identify, and implement solutions related to process upsets, customer quality issues, process improvements, and productivity variancesLead the establishment of Responsible Care ethics throughout the plantOperate the plant within approved fixed and variable budget plans and reconcile spending to the planEnsure compliance with plant safety standards and practicesAssist in preparing the plant’s period and capital plansTroubleshoot and resolve equipment and operating problemsMaintain regulatory and permit compliance and adherence to Chemtrade policies and proceduresEnsure employees are properly trained, competent, and documentation is maintainedPrepare reports tracking raw material and energy usage, production volumes, shipping, inventory, etc.Develop personnel, maintain a positive working environment, resolve conflicts, and serve as a sounding boardPhysical Demands / Work Environment
