Skills & experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within a food processing or HACCP-regulated environment.
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent trade certifications, courses, or licenses related to maintenance.
- Experienced in industrial equipment installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance with a focus on safe practices.
- Proficient with CMMS to track work orders, preventive maintenance, and inventory.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle preferred (up to 10% off-site work).
NICE-TO-HAVE
- Red Seal Millwright or Electrician certification
- Class B FSR certification or higher (preferred but not required)
- Power Engineer certification (preferred but not required)
- Experience in food or beverage manufacturing
Detailed Description of duties
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and electrical code specifications to plan and safely execute equipment installations.
- Maintain and troubleshoot complex plant systems and machinery to ensure smooth and safe operations.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the maintenance team to meet production targets while enforcing safety compliance and quality standards.
- Inspect work for compliance, participate in procedure development, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage employee performance, including disciplinary actions and terminations, always considering safety compliance.
- Prepare maintenance schedules aligned with organizational goals and monitor adherence to preventive maintenance and safety programs.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors for specialized repairs or maintenance outside the scope of the in-house team, ensuring safe practices.
- Oversee contractor work to ensure quality, specification, and safety compliance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support maintenance operations while maintaining a safe work environment.
