Position Description

The Cross-Referencing Services (CRS) team is responsible for cross referencing competitive part numbers to AGI equivalent part numbers related to large national and regional customer opportunities.

The CRS directly supports our sales team in securing new and maintaining existing business for Grainger Canada Inc. The team provides value by allowing Grainger the ability to respond to large RFP and RFQ requests, electronic output of crossed data, reduce suppliers, reduce inventory or provide lower price alternatives to our new and existing customers

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to :

  • Review and match customer product requirements to Grainger equivalent product utilizing Grainger core vendors, competitive information, internet research, internal tools, and product knowledge
  • Provide best possible match based on customer requirements ensuring product is part of Grainger core stocked offering
  • Ability to understand customer needs and to use knowledge and expertise to partner with internal customers and other Product Management / Pricing teams to win incremental business for Grainger Canada Inc.
  • Engage AGI core suppliers or Grainger Product Technical Support team to assist in technical product expertise when required
  • Meet or exceed CRS service level agreements and timelines on a consistent basis
  • Demonstrate initiative in suggesting changes and improving systems and processes of the department
  • Maintain a well-rounded knowledge of products sold by Grainger Canada Inc.
  • Ensure all work is accurate and submitted in a complete, timely and professional manner
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of competitive and core supplier crosses based on previous matching history
  • Responsible for ensuring all work is checked and submitted to the internal database daily

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Minimum 2 year college and / or 10 years of Industrial Safety industry experience
  • High level of product knowledge in products sold by Grainger Canada Inc.
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Preferred Bilingual (French / English) - written / verbal
  • Advanced Microsoft Office computer skills; specifically Excel, Access and Outlook
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team oriented environment
  • Customer focused
  • Working under tight timelines this individual will have superior organizational skills, will be detail oriented and able to work on multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Proven problem solving skills and task ownership; ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills, ability to convey messages in an organized, clear and effective manner
  • Goes beyond job requirements to seek opportunities and generate ideas for continuous improvements
  • Superior interpersonal and customer service skills to effectively build relationships
