Raise is hiring a Geotechnical / Geological Engineer for Our Client one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada.
This position is a One (1) year contract located in Vernon, BC. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward.
Description
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Geological Engineer or Engineering Geologist in this role will be responsible for capital projects at hydropower facilities and reservoir landslide sites
Scope of Work
- Geotechnical assessment and design, as well as field construction oversight as required for a variety of geotechnical engineering capital projects.
- Work may occur anywhere around BC but primarily in the southern interior.
- Projects typically extend over multiple years and require varying amounts of fieldwork during design and construction depending on scope and project delivery method.
- Common scopes of work include exploration and monitoring of deep-seated, ancient landslides, seismic remediation of hydroelectric facilities, development of 3D digital twin models of facilities, rockfall assessment and mitigation, tunnel inspection and improvements, quarry design and operation, embankment investigations and instrumentation.
Accountabilities
- Develop safe engineering solutions by using initiative and judgement to perform activities such as developing designs, analyzing and resolving problems, and interpreting engineering specifications on low to medium complexity assignments for projects and / or operations.
- Assist project or operations management to meet safety, cost, quality, and time objectives by performing activities such as proposing changes in plans and estimated costs, recommending payment for work completed by contractors, preparing progress reports, coordinating work schedules and other similar tasks.
- Participate in ’s engineering practice by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising judgment in selecting and interpreting information, recommending safe engineering designs, and making typical decisions related to standard methods and designs so that ’s engineering standards are maintained.
- Perform periodic tasks independently which may include on-site construction quality control and monitoring to ensure design compliance.
- Engage with ’s senior engineering team where engineering problems are difficult, complex, or unusual to support ’s management of engineering risk.
Required
4) years of in a relevant engineering field with experience in Geotechnical assessment and design, as well as field construction oversight
- Knowledge of exploration and monitoring of deep-seated, ancient landslides, seismic remediation of hydroelectric facilities, development of 3D digital twin models of facilities, rockfall assessment and mitigation, tunnel inspection and improvements, quarry design and operation, embankment investigations and instrumentation.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- University graduate in applied science or engineering
- P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
- Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards Ability to use standard industry design / analysis software
- Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

- Location of services : Vernon, BC / Hybrid (No remote candidates should be submitted - Must be in Vernon)
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 10 or 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own Smart Phone . This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
