Job Description Wireless Telecom Lead Hand

Summary :

The ideal candidate brings an energetic and positive attitude to the job and promotes an environment of accountability and continuous improvement.

This role will require leadership, experience, and a willingness to adapt and grow with the business. The lead hand is able to work unsupervised with minimal direction and support the crew in all aspects of the job.

Requirements ( Job Duties) :

  • Ability to lead, coach, and train junior staff on telecommunications infrastructure construction. Rooftops, Monopoles, Self Support, Guyed Towers and In-Building solutions
  • Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawings with high level of attention to detail.
  • Must possess excellent troubleshooting skills and demonstrate autonomy in day to day tasks.
  • Maintains a strong commitment to safety and working knowledge of standard industry safetyprocedures. Follow all documented policies and procedures to ensure the safety of yourself andyour co-workers.
  • Willing and able to travel out of town for multiple weeks at a time with minimal notice (24-48 Hours notice)
  • On-call duties as assigned.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Takes pride in company image, and quality of work.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex challenges with clarity.
  • Willing and able to travel within Canada.

Experience :

  • 2+ Years of telecommunications industry experience both technical and rigging.
  • Experience with working at heights up to 500 feet.
  • In-building DAS and structured cabling experience.
  • Installation of carrier grade equipment adhering to all documented methods of procedure.
  • Cable installation with the use of Ladders / Scaffold / Aerial work platforms
  • Installation and Erection of communication towers of up to 300’ self support towers.
  • Tower and Shelter foundation work including underground utilities, power distribution, telephone and fiber optic transport cables.
  • Structural knowledge of proper bolt torque, tools, methods, and testing.
  • Solid background of construction and working with various types of power tools.
  • Proficient with common telecommunications test equipment. (RF Sweep Gear (VSWR / RL), Fiber Optic OTDR, Antenna Alignment Azimuth tools)
  • Understanding of RF connector termination with various types of cables and connectors.

Certifications (On the job training provided Employer Paid)

  • First Aid
  • Fall Protection
  • High Angle Rescue
  • CSTS
  • Forklift Operator certificate
  • Aerial Work Platform Operator certificate.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must hold a valid class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Canadian Criminal Record Check
  • Willing to work out of town based on customers needs
