Job description

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Accounting and Financial Reporting, the Supervisor, Accounting Services, provides supervision, direction and guidance regarding general accounting functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, to ensure proper accounting controls and compliance with Board Policies and Procedures, Board Practices as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Monitors daily banking transactions and cash flow analysis. Reviews and posts Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Tracks bank transactions daily for all Board bank accounts. Monitors bank balances and prepares cash flow analyses. Prepares all electronic payments for the Board. Prepares monthly journal entries for all bank activities. Reviews the aging reports for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Responsible for the collection of outstanding receivables, and ensures payments are made within the vendor payment terms. Prepares monthly HST return for the CRA. Assists with the March and Year-End audit file preparations, including reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts and schedules. Prepares the monthly debenture financing schedule. May assist with various special and statistical reports as required. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE : Recognized Accounting Degree or Graduate in Business Administration Professional Accounting designation CPA ( CMA, CGA, CA) is required Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in financial management Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with computerized financial systems School Board or similar government agency experience would be an asset Knowledge of current Ministry and Board financial regulations and related policies and legislation would be an asset Ability to make decisions concerning the borrowing or investment of Board funds Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrated effective coordination, planning, decision making and problem solving skills Excellent organization skills, analytical skills and attention to detail Demonstrated leadership skills and experience supervising a team We encourage all applicants to view our Employment with HCDSB I Halton Catholic District School Board for more information about our Board.Please be advised as a condition of employment with the Board, candidates will be required to provide the following documentation upon hire : an original Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening, dated within the last six (6) months Equity and Inclusion The Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) is committed to supporting the development of a strong and equitable workforce, that will foster the success and well-being of our students, staff, and wider-Catholic school communities.
