We Are : At Synopsys, we drive the innovations that shape the way we live and connect. Our technology is central to the Era of Pervasive Intelligence, from self-driving cars to learning machines. We lead in chip design, verification, and IP integration, empowering the creation of high-performance silicon chips and software content. Join us to transform the future through continuous technological innovation.

You Are : You are a passionate, detail-oriented engineer who thrives at the intersection of software quality and advanced optics technology. With a strong foundation in engineering or physical sciences and a drive to ensure product excellence, you enjoy solving complex problems and collaborating across interdisciplinary teams. You embrace new challenges, quickly adapt to changing technologies, and are committed to continuous learning—especially in high-tech, fast-evolving environments. Your experience with scripting and programming languages like Python, C++, or MATLAB enables you to both automate and manually test sophisticated applications. You are as comfortable writing and maintaining test scripts as you are investigating and reproducing defects, and you take pride in delivering robust, reliable software to end users. Your background may include exposure to photonics, computational optics, or simulation software, and you are motivated by the opportunity to work with world-class R&D teams. You value clear communication and enjoy collaborating with colleagues from diverse technical backgrounds, valuing both individual and collective success. Your attention to detail, methodical approach, and dedication to quality set you apart, and you are eager to contribute to the next generation of optics software solutions that impact industries worldwide.

What You’ll Be Doing :

  • Designing, specifying, and writing comprehensive test cases for Ansys part of Synopsys - Optics applications, including Lumerical and interoperability with Speos and Zemax.
  • Creating, modifying, and maintaining both manual and automated test scripts to ensure rigorous software validation.
  • Performing functional, application, regression, and performance testing across diverse environments—Windows, Linux, virtual machines, compute clusters, and public clouds (Amazon, Azure).
  • Developing and executing detailed test plans, participating actively in defect management, and contributing to the analysis of testing metrics.
  • Investigating and reproducing defects reported by internal teams, following up on resolutions, and verifying implemented fixes.
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of internal automation tools to improve testing efficiency and product quality.
  • Collaborating closely with R&D and technical specialists to ensure product requirements and quality standards are met.
  • Applying standardized processes and best practices in software development, testing, and quality assurance.

The Impact You Will Have :

  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality optics simulation and design software used by leading researchers and engineers worldwide.
  • Improving the reliability and usability of Ansys part of Synopsys - Optics products, directly impacting customer satisfaction and innovation.
  • Driving automation initiatives that streamline testing and accelerate product release cycles.
  • Identifying and resolving product issues early, reducing time-to-market for new features and enhancements.
  • Contributing valuable insights to product development teams, helping shape the direction and capabilities of future optics software solutions.
  • Supporting the adoption of modern software engineering practices, elevating quality standards across the organization.
  • What You’ll Need :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field with 2+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with no experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality assurance or software development roles.

  • Proficiency with Python, C++, MATLAB, or other programming and scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with software testing methodologies, including manual, automated, functional, and regression testing.
  • Experience working in diverse computing environments, including Windows, Linux, VMs, and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with defect tracking systems (e.g., Jira, ADO, Bugzilla) and version control tools (e.g., Git, Bitbucket).
  • Knowledge of or interest in optics, photonics, or electromagnetics simulation tools is a plus.
  • Who You Are :

  • A collaborative team player who communicates clearly and effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn new technologies and methodologies.
  • Detail-oriented, thorough, and methodical in approach to testing and problem-solving.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a distributed team environment.
  • Resilient and resourceful in troubleshooting complex software issues and driving them to resolution.
  • The Team You’ll Be A Part Of :

You’ll join the Electronics and Optics R&D team, a diverse and passionate group of engineers and scientists dedicated to advancing the state of the art in optics simulation and design. The team collaborates across geographies, working together to deliver innovative, high-impact software solutions that empower customers in industries ranging from photonics and electronics to automotive, aerospace, and beyond. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a culture of excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

    Rewards and Benefits :

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
