About the Role
There is an immediate requirement for a Grant Writer and Coordinator to join the AKSWB team, to help in writing a government grant for members of our diverse abilities program to have access to and develop a day program.
This will be located in and will work in conjunction with programming planned for Generations Toronto, Vancouver, Laval.
This role will report to the National Social Welfare Board Member for Diverse Abilities.
The AKSWB has a goal to establish and develop a day program for those members of the Jamat with diverse abilities needs, which include physical, mental, emotional, and social disabilities.
The Grant writer will have to identify grants we qualify for, write the grants we qualify for, submit these grants to the appropriate bodies, and will have to coordinate the facilitation of the grant once received.
The primary responsibilities of this role are :
- Setting goals and objectives for Grant Writing and Coordination Identify key grants we qualify for, and identify due dates for the grants Write the grant and submit them accordingly Coordinate the distribution of the grant once received
- Content planning and development Utilize the project proposal to write the grant accordingly. Identify key deliverables needed from the AKSWB team to qualify for the grant Coordinate and facilitate the information needed Responsive to deadlines and gathering appropriate information needed
- Engagement with SWB and Generations Inform and work with Generations (Toronto, Vancouver, Laval) to identify the needs and requirements of the grantWork and report to SWB for the facilitation of the grantIf grant is received, there may be a need to participate in planning process with the City of Toronto, Vancouver, and Laval.
- Distribution and PromotionSubmit the appropriate grant as there may be multiple that we qualify for
- Monitoring and evaluation Identify all key deliverable dates and dates of submission for the grant Submit according to deadlines identified Evaluation should include next steps once grant is received or next steps if grant is not received
- Project Management Takes initiative to identify key information needed to qualify for grant Develops a strategy to obtain key deliverable materials Writing experience for grant writing is recommended Work with SWB and key partners to ensure the appropriate submission of grant
About You
Volunteer Qualification & Skill Requirements :
Required Skills :
- Grant writing experience
- Understanding of Diverse Abilities (physical, emotional, social, and mental needs) and the need for a day program
- Takes initiative and can lead the development, writing, and execution of the grant
- Adheres to deadlines and timelines
- The applicant should be located in Toronto, Vancouver, or Quebec- we require one from each of these cities
Nice to have Skills :
- Previous institutional experience
- Background in working with members with diverse abilities
