Location : Various locations across Saskatchewan

As a Code Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing local codes and regulations related to property maintenance, land use, and zoning.

Your role will be crucial in maintaining community standards and ensuring compliance with municipal codes and ordinances.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Inspect properties and sites to ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and property maintenance standards.
  • Investigate complaints and reports of code violations, documenting findings and taking appropriate enforcement actions.
  • Issue citations and notices of violation to property owners and tenants, outlining required corrective measures and deadlines.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with correction orders and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to inspections, violations, and enforcement actions.
  • Educate the public and property owners about code requirements, enforcement procedures, and the appeals process.
  • Collaborate with other municipal departments, agencies, and community organizations to address and resolve code enforcement issues.
  • Stay updated on changes to codes, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure accurate and effective enforcement.

Requirements

  • Relevant certification or diploma in Code Enforcement, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in code enforcement, property management, or a similar role, with a strong understanding of local codes and regulations.
  • Excellent observational and analytical skills for identifying and documenting code violations.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with property owners, tenants, and municipal officials.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and maintain accurate records in a detailed and organized manner.
  • Familiarity with legal procedures and enforcement actions related to code violations.
