Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Comox, British Columbia.
A pool of essentially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION :
Possession of a valid Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate in the following field :
Appliance Service Technician
Additional endorsement in the following areas :
Applicable electrical endorsement
Gas Appliance Service Technician
EXPERIENCE :
- Experience in the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial appliances and kitchen equipment (including but not limited to ranges, dishwashers, garburators, a variety of ovens, steamers, deep fryers).
- Experience in using Microsoft Office suite (including Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Experience in sourcing parts and equipment for repair and replacement.
- Experience will be assessed in terms of the depth and breadth of activities, the complexity and diversity of work handled, as well as the level of autonomy demonstrated.

Conditions of employment
Reliability Status security clearance
- Possess and maintain a valid Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate as an Appliance Service Technician with additional endorsement in the following areas : Applicable electrical endorsement and Gas Appliance Service Technician.
- Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted provincial driver’s licence valid in the province of work.
- Willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (such as but not limited to safety boots, hard hat, respirator, ear and eye protection) in accordance with safety requirements, policy, or regulations.
- Willing and able to repetitively lift and carry items weighing up to 30 kgs in accordance with general safety practices.
- Willing and eligible to obtain and maintain a Departmental driver’s licence (DND 404).
- Willing and able to work overtime as required.
- Willing and able to be on standby and report to work as required.
