This position has primary responsibility for the development and delivery of individualized programs / strategies to students who require additional support to ensure they have the necessary tools to achieve academic success.
Responsibilities
- Meeting with students one-on-one to assess and identify areas in need of improvement in relation to academic success
- Develop and deliver individualized learning plans for students with a broad range of disabilities based on each students’ unique needs and learning style (i.e. study strategies, organizational strategies, time management, coping skills and other areas of need)
- Work in collaboration with Tutors, Instructors, and other staff as appropriate, providing training and support when needed for students with specific learning differences
- Support and enhance each students personal and academic success
- Serve as a resource to the College on matters related to learning strategies for students with learning differences
- Assist with special events and other services offered through the department
- Assist with additional tasks and special projects as assigned to support the operation of the department
Education And Experience
University degree in Education, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or related qualificationMinimum two years in a secondary or post-secondary educational setting working directly with students in the planning and provision of educational supports to students with special needsProven experience providing learning strategies to students within a diverse populationProven ability to provide solution-focused interventionsSkills And Competencies
