The Opportunity

McElhanney has a unique opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join our team in Edmonton, AB. We are seeking a seasoned Professional Civil Engineer with strong leadership capabilities and a proven track record in delivering complex civil engineering projects, particularly within the energy and resource sectors. This role involves guiding multidisciplinary project teams through the design and execution of infrastructure for clients in mining, emerging energy, oil & gas, and industrial development. The ideal candidate brings a combination of technical expertise, project management acumen, and experience working with both private industry and public‑sector stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

• Lead or support the design and delivery of civil engineering projects in the energy and resource sector, including mining, emerging energy, oil & gas, and industrial development.
• Correspond with existing clients and develop new relationships and business opportunities.
• Prepare and review engineering designs, reports, technical specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and due diligence reviews.
• Technical Engineering focus of civil infrastructure, traffic accommodation, access planning and intersections, grading, sediment and erosion control, project management, and engineering coordination.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
• Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, contributing to proposals, and building long‑term client relationships.

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $110,000 – $140,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary / wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

This role is designated as a safety sensitive position.
