Role & Responsibilities :
Purpose :
Licensing : Develop and implement licensing strategies for securing regulatory approvals for projects, new facilities, modifications to existing facilities, and decommissioning. Advise Facility Authorities on licensing matters including : the preparation and review of correspondence and licensing documentation, determination of reportability of issues, development and management of regulatory commitments, and general management of the interfaceSafety Analysis : prepare & update facility safety documentation, including deterministic and probabilistic safety analysis, criticality analysis, shielding analysis and radiological consequence analysis. Undertake safety assessments in support of Engineering Change Control (ECC), non-standard operational processes e.g., Operational Decision Making (ODM), Problem Validation (PV) and Technical Operability Evaluation (TOE).General accountabilities :
Attend management meetingsLicensing :
Establish licensing basis for construction, operation, modification and decommissioning of facilitiesAssist the management with the oversight of all licensed activities (construction, operation, modification, and decommissioning) conducted by ERM.Provide regulatory advice and guidance to ERM Management team e.g., Facility Authorities, Functional Support Manager, Project Managers.Safety Analysis :
Perform routine and complex hazard assessments.Independently perform routine safety analyses for projects and facilities, and complex analyses under direct supervision.Document safety analyses for review.Independently assess safety impacts of proposed facility changes.Provide input to designers regarding safety implications of proposed designs.Provide input to operations staff regarding safety implications of proposed operations, changes to operating procedures or plant.Qualifications / Requirements :
University graduation or Ph.D. in engineering, science or applied science or equivalent experience resulting in a sound knowledge of some scientific discipline and significant related scientific working experience.Ability to apply safety and licensing analysis independently for routine work, and under direct supervision for complex work, to solve complex issues, and to provide knowledgeable support to Designers and Facility Operations.Can organize routine and complex work and activities of a moderate number of resources to accomplish deliverables in accordance with expectations.Fully developed knowledge of two or more of the following areas and a basic understanding of the remainder :Regulatory framework governing Canadian nuclear industry
