The intent of this process is to create an inventory of applications that may be used to fill various Parks Canada positions in Nunavut.

Applicants included in the inventory may be referred for one or more opportunities based on screening criteria and needs of the position(s) to be staffed.

Northern Allowances :

Isolated Post Allowances (IPA) : The total amount of these allowances will normally fall between $24, to $49, per year depending on the work location and the number of eligible dependents.

Vacation Travel Assistance (VTA) : The vacation travel assistance payment is provided twice per year to the employee and each eligible dependent.

The VTA rates are updated every 6 months and rates vary for each work location

Parks Canada Agency is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canadas natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Parks Canada Agencys Mandate : On behalf of the people of Canada, we protect and present nationally significant examples of Canada's natural and cultural heritage, and foster public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment in ways that ensure their ecological and commemorative integrity for present and future generations.

In the Nunavut Field Unit, Inuit and Parks Canada cooperatively manage five national parks, one national historic site and one national marine conservation area. They are :

Auyuittuq National Park

Sirmilik National Park

Qausuittuq National Park

Quttinirpaaq National Park

Ukkusiksalik National Park

Wrecks of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror National Historic Site

Tallurutiup Imanga National Marine Conservation Area

Long before these areas received federal protection, Inuit lived, harvested and travelled these lands and waters. Many staff have connections to these places through their families and ancestors.

To this day, harvesting and use by Inuit remain a protected right under the Nunavut Agreement. For further information on the organization, please visit the Parks Canada website.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create an inventory of applications that may be used to fill various Parks Canada positions in Nunavut.

Applicants included in the inventory may be referred for one or more opportunities based on screening criteria and the needs of the position(s) to be staffed.

As positions become available, applicants who meet the required qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

Each position may have a different education requirement, such as two or more years of high school, a college diploma or a university degree.

Reliability Status security clearance

The following may be required depending on the position being staffed :

Pre-employment medical (and periodic medical assessments)

Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL)

Valid class 5 drivers licence

ASSESSMENT

Candidates must meet all the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position. You may be assessed using a variety of assessment tools, such as, but not limited to : written exams, interviews, reference checks, recent and past performance evaluations, self-assessments, candidate achievement record, etc.

Please note that your overall conduct and communications, including email correspondence, throughout the entire process may be used in the assessment of qualifications.

Please note that achieving the pass mark on any of the assessments used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process.

Management may decide to use a score that is higher than the pass mark on any of the evaluations used throughout the selection process.

Management may also decide to use top-down selection at any stage of the process. Depending on the position(s) to be staffed, additional qualifications may be used by the hiring manager(s).

Candidates will be provided with the opportunity to submit all relevant information and will be informed prior to being assessed in relation to other qualifications that may apply.
