The Physiotherapist is responsible for the caseload of outpatient and inpatient program.
Primary Responsibilities
• Familiarizing themselves with the theory and application of all currently applicable procedures and modalities of treatment that they will be involved with and be able to set appropriate goals of treatment and develop and implement appropriate treatment programs.
• Assessing the patient noting previous history and recording all relevant details.
• Reassessing and modifying treatment as indicated, upon receipt of a referral containing diagnosis and a physician's signature.
• Discussing problems relating to patient care with the Senior Physiotherapist and/or the referring physician as indicated.
• Ensuring patient safety while delivering treatment and while in the Physiotherapy department.
• Providing quality patient care and participating in quality assurance as indicated.
• Charting/documenting all patient information in the appropriate manner (S.O.A.P.) and at indicated frequencies.
• Providing formal lectures and lecture demonstrations for the education of medical and paramedical/nursing staff as indicated.
• Attending clinics, rounds, and meetings concerning patient care as indicated.
• Upgrading their professional knowledge and skills by attending in-services, courses, and seminars as indicated.
• Supervising and instructing Physiotherapy Assistants and the patients they attend.
• Compiling and reporting statistics and Q.A. and W.M.S. indicators as indicated.
• Keeping the Senior Physiotherapist informed of the service they provide through attendance at regular staff meetings and/or individual meetings as indcated.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Program Manager of Rehabilitation Services.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Physical Therapy with evidence of ongoing professional development required.
• Current registration with the Ontario College of Physiotherapy required.
• Eligible for membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred.
• 1-3 years experience working with patients of various ages with neurological and orthopaedic diagnosis in the acute and rehabilitation phases of assessment and treatment required.
• Demonstrated ability to function collaboratively and effectively within an interdisciplinary team and with community partners.
• Proven ability to prioritize and organize caseload to deal effectively and efficiently with competing demands.
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office software applications and excellent keyboarding skills.
• Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated superior organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and multi task efficiently.
• Demonstrated ability in conflict management.
• Demonstrated good interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates commitment to continued professional and personal growth and development through Continuing Education Programs and Self Directed Learning Opportunities.
• Satisfactory work performance and attendance record required
