About the Role
Humaniti Canada is seeking a Country Director to serve as the public face and national leader for Humaniti in Canada. This role is ideal for a purpose-driven, relationship-focused leader with experience in the Canadian nonprofit, humanitarian, or social impact sectors.
The Country Director will represent Humaniti publicly, build high-value partnerships, enhance national visibility, coordinate program delivery, and ensure Canada’s operations align seamlessly with Humaniti’s global operating system.
This role works closely with the Global Executive Director and Global Chief of Staff to maintain strong governance, compliance, and measurable impact outcomes.
Responsibilities
1. Public Leadership & Representation (40%)
- Serve as the public ambassador and national face of Humaniti Canada.
- Represent Humaniti at events, conferences, roundtables, and media opportunities.
- Build visibility and credibility with donors, communities, and stakeholders.
- Speak on behalf of the organization with coordinated messaging.
2. Partnership Building & Strategic Relationships (30%)
Develop and manage strategic relationships with :Federal and provincial agenciesNGOs and humanitarian networksCorporate partners & CSR teamsFaith and community leadersFoundations, institutions, and academic partnersIdentify and pursue partnership opportunities that expand impact and operational capacity.3. Program Oversight & Local Impact Delivery (15%)
Support program implementation through vetted delivery partners.Monitor program quality, safeguarding, and reporting.Ensure Canadian-funded programs meet Humaniti’s global standards.4. National Strategy & Operational Coordination (15%)
Translate global priorities into a Canadian strategy and annual plan.Coordinate with global teams (data, governance, finance, donor care, etc.).Ensure timely reporting, KPI production, and operational compliance.Adhere to the global governance cadence (weekly, monthly, quarterly).Qualifications
Required
7+ years of leadership experience in humanitarian, nonprofit, public, or social impact sectors.Experience as a public-facing leader, comfortable speaking, presenting, and representing an organization.Strong partnership-building and stakeholder management skills.Knowledge of Canadian charitable regulations, CRA expectations, and compliance standards.Experience with program oversight, impact reporting, or community development.Ability to work in a matrixed global environment with multiple reporting lines.Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.High integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to humanitarian values.Preferred
Experience working in multi-country or multi-stakeholder organizations.Background in government relations, public affairs, or institutional partnerships.Knowledge of humanitarian response, global development, or social innovation.Experience with shared-services environments or operational governance structures.
