Job Description

As Director, Production Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing production engineering teams that focus on specific areas within the organization. This role involves team leadership, program oversight, engineering processes, tools, and innovation, ensuring that engineering efforts align with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the production engineering strategy in alignment with overall engineering and business strategies.
• Develop and implement departmental strategies to optimize production engineering performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and resolve challenges.
• Align engineering priorities with executives, project teams, and stakeholders.
• Manage the budget and resource allocation for production engineering initiatives.
• Ensure the effective deployment of tools, technologies, and resources to meet organizational needs.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects.
• Lead talent acquisition, development, and succession planning for the production engineering team.
• Conduct performance reviews and foster leadership development.
• Mentor and guide production engineering managers and teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
• Oversee project execution to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery at the required quality.
• Monitor team performance and project success using key metrics.
• Identify and implement process improvements and new technologies.
• Report achievements, risks, and challenges to senior management.
• Manage resources, budgets, tools, and staffing effectively.
• Capture lessons learned and integrate improvements into future planning.
• Analyze production data to solve problems and improve efficiency.
• Define and promote processes, procedures, instructions, and guidelines for the Engineering Department.
• Ensure consistent application of best practices across teams and projects.
• Evaluate and implement tools to enhance productivity, collaboration, and quality.
• Work closely with project management, operations, and leadership teams to align engineering processes with business goals.
• Provide training and resources for teams to adopt and adapt to methodologies.
• Facilitate communication between engineering teams and other departments.
• Act as a mentor or coach for engineering leaders to optimize processes.
• Ensure engineering methods adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate, support, and develop research and development projects.
• Oversee the introduction of new technologies into the operations processes.
• Supervise and identify areas for improvement and support the methodology of the production processes in each production area.
• Participate in the development of investment plans, collaborating with the various departments.
• Define and implement standardized engineering methodologies and associated norms.
• Evaluate, select, and manage tools and technologies to optimize engineering workflows.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for process efficiency and quality.
• Define material and interim product catalogues and the associated design and production standards.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Define detailed hull and outfitting work sequences.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering teams.
• Capture potential improvements during the execution of the lessons learned process.
