Structural Designer

EASTPOINT is seeking a Structural Designer for our Halifax office. Reporting to the VP, Structural Engineering, you will be an integral part of our engineering team.

You will participate in project phases, from detailed design, through to tendering and construction. Candidates must have a strong attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, highly organized, be detail orientated, and a self-starter.

The successful applicant must be able to work interchangeably in a team setting, and independently, and will be expected to liaise with professionals including technicians, engineers, sub-consultants, and contractors.

Role Requirements

• Diploma in civil / structural engineering from an accredited program and eligible to be certified as an Engineering Technologist by Tech Nova.
• over 5 years’ experience in Structural Drawing and Design.
• Preparing structural models using REVIT for buildings
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Have experience with 2D and 3D CAD Software.
• Performing site visits to confirm measurements, as-built conditions and to take field measurements.
• Coordinating structural drawings with other project disciplines.
• Utilize and collaborate with project teams using Building Information Modelling (BIM)
• Construction site inspection experience considered an asset.

Other Requirements

• Candidates must be able to obtain a minimum of Reliability status through CISD within six (6) months. This is a requirement for employment.
