Be more than a teacher; Be more than an instructor; Be more than a friend; Be the Spark that allows a child to our professional and passionate team of early childhood educators!Position & location:full-time Child Care Cook Our Lady of the Bay YMCA Child Care CollingwoodThe opportunity: To build healthy strong connected communities by providing and promoting nourishing and healthy this role you will:Prepare a five-week rotating menu for child care centre that meets the YMCA Menu Planning Protocol; post any menu changes as they are one hot lunch and two snacks per day following the five-week special dietary meals if necessary taking childrens allergies and special parental direction into food and kitchen inventory; order all food food and fridge temperatures as per food and dishes in accordance with the Ministry of Health and sanitize kitchen equipment and sanitize cupboards fridge and food storage areas on a weekly basis or more as all health & safety meals in proper quantity in relation to the number of in supervision of lunch set-up and clean room to meet needs of activities and equipment both large and small to undertake cleaning use of computers for administrative personal care to children including but not limited to providing first aid administering medication monitoring dietary allergies & medical conditionsActively engage with children and always ensure supervision and safety of children in a group setting of up to 15 children independentlyImplement play-based learning in accordance with YMCA CurriculumEnsure positive professional communication with families staff and volunteers on an ongoing basisDemonstrate appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission Vision and ValuesAdhere to work schedule and provide adequate notice to supervisor regarding unexpected scheduling changesDemonstrate flexibility with routines and schedulesOther duties as assignedFor this role you bring:Minimum 18 years of ageCurrent Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification OR completion of certification within first 90 days of employmentSuccessful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening within 6 months of your start dateUp-to-date immunizations or equivalent in accordance with local public health and Child Care Early Years ActCurrent Safe Food Handler CertificateAvailability requirements: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 7:00am & 6:00pmOperation of food services equipment ie. oven stove cooking appliancesKnowledge of childrens nutritional requirements according to Canadas Food Guide MEDU and the Ministry of Health legislationPassion for working with children and providing quality play-based learningWell-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills with families staff and volunteersStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to stand for extended periods of time lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.) and participate in physical activitiesAbility to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily year-round in all weather conditionsBenefits of working with us:Complimentary access to virtual and/or in-person opportunities promoting health and fitnessEmployee & Family Assistance ProgramAnnual paid Wellness DayAnnual recognition pay Professional development opportunitiesWork life balance that offers most evenings and weekends free; all statutory days off12 sick days per yearHealth Rx Vision and Dental Insurance Short-Term & Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance Funded Retirement and Savings Plan Discounted Program Fees About us:The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is a registered charity committed to fostering healthy communities by empowering children youth and families promoting well-being and encouraging social responsibility.
