The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. We provide open and non-discriminatory access to Alberta’s interconnected power grid and also facilitate Alberta’s competitive wholesale electricity market. Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) are the requirements followed by the AESO and Alberta market participants to provide for the reliable operation of the Alberta interconnected electric system (AIES). The AESO recommends the adoption of ARS that are based on the reliability standards of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) as well as other ARS that amend, supplement, or replace NERC standards.
Reporting to the Manager, Standards & Modelling, you will coordinate and guide cross‑functional teams to develop ARS for Alberta’s electricity industry. To succeed in this position, you will require knowledge of high voltage facilities, transmission system operations, and protection & control systems to lead and participate in stakeholder engagements with external industry working groups.
