Morrison Hershfield's Transportation Division provides planning, design and construction administration services for roadway, highway, transit / rail, bridge and related projects. We are currently seeking a Senior Inspector to complement our transportation team in the Greater Toronto area to play a lead role in the delivery of environmental assessment and functional / preliminary and detail design assignments primarily for public sector clients. Due to expanding business opportunities in Ontario and elsewhere within the company, this position offers growth in the areas of technical / professional development and project management.Responsibilities:
Checks and inspects construction activities, operations and work to ensure compliance with the contract documents, drawings, and specifications
Conducts site surveys, confirming scope of work, obtaining relevant information, equipment and materials and maintains quality and payment records in a daily diary for the work completed
Compiles field / test data in a report form for review by the Contract Administrator
Liaise / Coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and / or testing to ensure the tasks are completed in accordance with the terms or reference, specifications or agreement
Attends site meetings as required
Obtains video / photographic records as required
Records, reviews and addresses contractor questions and clarifications by reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution if not already provided to the contractor
Attends site meetings and reconnaissance on site
Able to hand multiple priorities without losing focus
Qualifications:
A Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician
Minimum 4 years' experience in engineering/construction
Prior experience inspecting transportation structures and working on bridges, culverts and/or retaining walls
Either registration as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. or Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO
Designation as determined by O.A.C.E.T.T. as a Road Construction Senior Inspector (rcsi) is an asset
Able to work overtime, on weekends and nights, as required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Proficiency with MS Office an asset
A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle is required
Detail oriented
