WONDERING WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

The Environmental Regulatory Specialist role will require you to bring a high standard of strategic thinking to your daily work. These responsibilities will include:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing strategic regulatory advice to proponents and technical teams during all stages of the project life cycle, including planning and feasibility studies, EA, post-EA permitting and compliance.
  • Coordinating and integrating inputs from multi-disciplinary technical teams (e.g., fisheries, wildlife, vegetation, air quality, water quality) to support environmental assessments, permit applications, and management plans.
  • Leading or supporting the development of EA and permitting related applications and reports, including drafting of text, reviewing and editing of technical content, and ensuring overall consistency, clarity, and regulatory alignment.
  • Leading or supporting development of environmental management plans to address EA conditions and permit requirements.
  • Leading or supporting development of permit applications, primarily in British Columbia as well as other Canadian jurisdictions across a wide range of clients and sectors (e.g., infrastructure, mining, transportation, provincial, federal and First Nations governments), in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Managing communication and coordination between proponents, engineers, environmental teams, regulatory agencies, and working groups.

THE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a motivated professional with a strong foundation in environmental science and regulatory processes, who is comfortable working across disciplines and adapting to a range of project needs.

  • 5+ years of experience in environmental assessment, permitting, or regulatory advisory roles, ideally within a consulting environment.
  • Knowledge of provincial, territorial, and federal environmental legislation, such as theImpact Assessment Act, Fisheries Act, Canadian Navigable Waters Act, BC Environmental Management Act, BC Mines Act, BC Forest Act, BC Water Sustainability Act,andBC Environmental Assessment Act.
  • Experience coordinating and integrating inputs from multi-disciplinary technical teams, with the ability to synthesize information into clear, defensible regulatory and permitting deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide regulatory and permitting advice, exercising professional judgment and supporting proponents and internal teams through complex regulatory processes.
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills, with attention to clarity, consistency, and regulatory alignment.
  • Experience working on complex infrastructure, mining, transportation, or construction-related projects is an asset.
  • Project coordination or project management experience is an asset, particularly in managing schedules, priorities, and multiple workstreams.
  • Interest and capability in client-facing work, including participation in meetings, responding to information requests, and supporting ongoing client relationships.
  • Broad understanding of environmental disciplines (e.g., air quality, surface and groundwater quality, vegetation, wildlife, fish and fish habitat).
  • Professional designation (R.P.Bio.), or eligibility for professional registration is an asset.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and self-motivated, with a strong willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow into increasing responsibility over time.
