Job Description
Reporting directly to the Revenue Accounting Manager, the Project Accountant (Revenue Accountant) will assist in ensuring timely and accurate recognition of revenue.
Responsibilities will include monthly review and analysis of project budgets, having an overall knowledge of each major function of the business, assisting with various trainings on revenue recognition process, and month-end closing activities.
The Project Accountant (Revenue Accountant) will work in close collaboration with other teams, including sales staff, and project management.
Responsibilities to include the following, but not limited to :
- Recording data into project and cost accounting financial system.
- Analyzing project tracking data to ensure that actual and estimated costs are appropriately recorded.
- Analyzing budget to actual variances by project and providing guidance to management accordingly.
- Analyzing changes in project design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
- Working closely with operations, engineering, and other key stakeholders to track progress on all active projects, providing information to improve operations, and identify opportunities.
- Monitoring projects as they come online and assisting Revenue Accounting Manager with required licensing and registration.
- Performing monthly deep-dive project reviews with the operations team to ensure proper percentage of completion compared to accumulated costs and estimated budgets.
- Preparing monthly closing journal entries and account reconciliations for revenue accounts.
- Assisting the Revenue Accounting Manager in day-to-day operations as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum three (3) years of solid Accounting experience
- Cost Accounting, Project Accounting, or Revenue Analysis experience is crucial to be successful in this role
- Strong spreadsheet analysis skills (excel, etc)
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently to meet strict deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with our valued team members
