The Role
At STRIVE, we are partnered with a client who is currently seeking an eager Maintenance Supervisor to join the maintenance team in their Richmond facility.
The Maintenance Supervisor will be overseeing a small team and providing hands-on guidance and mentoring to the maintenance staff.
This will be a Monday-Friday day position. Please note there will be occasional on-call work.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose the root causes of issues encountered on the production floor.
- Address recurring problems by implementing preventative solutions and measures to maintain the continuous operation of production machinery, and identify permanent resolutions.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to offer support and guidance as needed.
- Contact OEMs / Suppliers to order and secure parts in urgent situations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in the system, ensuring parts are received and stored correctly.
- Produce KPI reports; analyze the data, provide feedback, and recommend solutions.
- Serve as a liaison to contractors for resolving issues; foster positive relationships and rapport.
- Request quotes, recommendations, and service reports from contractors; coordinate with the Maintenance Planner.
- Shadow the maintenance team during PM activities, providing coaching and corrective action as necessary.
- Proactively oversee scheduled PMs with the Planner to ensure the availability of required parts, materials, and manpower, guaranteeing timely completion.
- Develop and implement process flow documents for production equipment.
- Review, correct, and approve all employee timecards according to payroll schedules.
- Manage scheduling, including approvals and coverage for vacations, absences, overtime, and ensuring proper support based on skill / position / plant requirements.
- Monitor technician floor time and timecard entries in the system (tardiness, staying late, early punch-ins).
- Initiate and conduct investigations into any internal issues or violations of company policies, determine the situation, and take disciplinary action if necessary.
- Verify the accuracy of CMMS entries made by maintenance workers.
- Confirm all maintenance activities and tasks in the CMMS; regularly audit PM completions and provide coaching to technicians as needed.
- Implement preventative activities in the CMMS for maintenance technicians to follow, aiming to prevent and resolve recurring issues.
- Continuously improve procedures and documentation related to the maintenance department.
- Offer recommendations for equipment maintenance, efficiency, and productivity to prevent recurring issues and reactive responses.
Requirements
- 2+ years of supervisor experience in the maintenance and operation of process manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced environment
- Educational background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering
- Journeyman Trade Designation (or equivalent) is considered an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and PLC systems
- Demonstrated ability to apply and conduct good root cause analysis techniques and resolve problems.
- Knowledge of a continuous process manufacturing facility and strong experience with equipment overhaul, machining, pneumatics and hydraulics of processing equipment is considered an asset.
- Experience using a CMMS system to report and track all maintenance activity is considered a strong asset (including computer and technical skills).
- Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the team (emergencies, on-call, occasional weekend / graveyard / flexible shifts).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to maintain a respectful and cohesive team.
Compensation
- $90,000-$110,000 per year
