Veterinary Client Care Representative – Full Time

A veterinary receptionist is the first point of contact in a veterinary clinic, providing caring customer service and administrative support. They help to ensure smooth daily operations, assisting pet owners with their patient concerns, and support veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

Rutland Pet Hospital is a longtime clinic in Kelowna with a loyal client base bringing us a variety of pets for care ranging from cats, dogs, rabbits, reptiles, birds, and pocket pets. We are a great place to work with a knowledgeable team where one can learn and grow their passion for pet care.

A veterinary receptionist’s day will include many of the following skills and tasks:

• Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone, and via email or text
• Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively
• Knowledge of basic animal behavior and health
• Contact clients to confirm appointments
• Attention to detail ensuring pet and client records are kept up to date
• Accepting and posting payments
• Supporting and promoting team initiatives in a positive manner
• Providing backup with pet handling during visits
• Cleaning or organizing front office areas
• Greet clients, help them feel comfortable, at ease, and welcome
• Communicating between staff, clients and vendors in a timely, friendly manner
• Flexibility to multitask – completing paperwork, answering client questions on the phone, or in-person.
