Job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced 5-Axis CNC Milling Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience setting up, operating, and preferably programming 5-axis CNC milling machines to manufacture high-precision components.

Candidates must have specific experience with simultaneous 5-axis or 3+2 axis CNC milling, not just conventional 3-axis CNC machines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.

  • Perform machine setups, tool changes, work offsets, and fixture adjustments.

  • Load, edit, and optimize CNC programs to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

  • Work with complex geometries and tight tolerances.

  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for different materials.

  • Conduct first-piece and in-process quality inspections.

  • Use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.

  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments.

  • Maintain machines and follow workplace safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 5 years of CNC milling experience, including hands-on 5-axis machining.

  • Strong knowledge of 5-axis CNC machine setup and operation.

  • Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or similar CNC controls.

  • Ability to read complex engineering drawings and understand GD&T.

  • Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, NX, or similar is an asset.

  • Strong understanding of cutting tools, machining parameters, and precision tolerances.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Experience machining complex components in metal manufacturing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with simultaneous 5-axis machining.

  • Experience programming and troubleshooting 5-axis CNC machines.

  • Knowledge of aerospace, automotive, or precision manufacturing.

  • Experience with complex multi-sided machining and advanced workholding techniques.

Important Screening Criteria

Candidates must have actual hands-on 5-axis CNC milling experience. Experience limited to 3-axis CNC milling, CNC turning, or basic machine operation will not be sufficient.
