Position: Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Solidworks)
Relevant Experience: 5-8 Years
Location: Calagary, Canada
Job Summary:
- We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with 5 8 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, with strong hands-on skills in SolidWorks.
- The candidate will be responsible for mechanical system design, equipment/layout development, 3D modeling, engineering documentation, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems, equipment, assemblies, and layouts.
- Create and manage 3D models using SolidWorks for mechanical equipment and components.
- Develop models for mechanical systems, equipment, piping, cabling and layouts.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings.
- Develop mechanical layouts, equipment arrangements, piping, Cabling routes, and utility systems.
- Perform design calculations and select appropriate mechanical components/equipment.
- Prepare BOMs, equipment schedules, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Review designs for manufacturability, installation, serviceability.
- Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, structural, and other disciplines.
- Resolve design clashes.
- Incorporate engineering changes, and maintain design revisions.
- Support prototype development, testing, validation, installation, and commissioning activities where applicable.
- Interact with customers and project teams to understand requirements and provide engineering solutions.
Required Skills:
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and design experience.
- Hands-on expertise in SolidWorks part modelling, assemblies, sheet metal, Piping, cabling, drawings, configurations, and BOMs.
- Knowledge of HVAC, SS piping, Valves, equipment layouts, utilities, and mechanical systems.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5 10 years of relevant mechanical design/engineering experience.
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare/pharma, process industry, Food & Beverages, industrial, Manufacturing or commercial projects.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Revit Mechanical/MEP.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, specifications, equipment datasheets, and architectural/structural drawings.
- Understanding of BIM workflows and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Knowledge of applicable ASME, ISO, NFPA, or other relevant engineering standards.
- Experience working with international customers and distributed engineering teams.
