Job Description

Our client, Four Lakes Mechanical Ltd., is a growing mechanical contracting company based in Port Coquitlam, providing plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire protection, and specialty piping services throughout British Columbia and Alberta. Their projects include new builds, retrofits, and seismic upgrades across commercial environments, with work spanning the Lower Mainland, the Sunshine Coast, the Kootenays, and Edmonton.

Four Lakes Mechanical values strong client relationships, collaboration, and employee growth. They believe that when the company succeeds, employees should share in that success, and they are looking for a Construction Safety Officer to help maintain high safety standards and support their continued growth.

The Opportunity

This is a full-time, permanent position working closely with project management and field supervision. The Construction Safety Officer will play an important role in promoting a safe work environment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and strengthening safety practices across the company’s projects.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular site inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks and ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and project-specific requirements;
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and safe work procedures;
  • Leading incident investigations, documenting findings, and coordinating corrective actions;
  • Delivering new worker and site-specific orientations, ongoing safety training, toolbox talks, and safety meetings;
  • Monitoring worker and subcontractor compliance with safety procedures and applicable requirements;
  • Maintaining accurate safety documentation, including inspection reports, training records, and incident reports;
  • Supporting return-to-work and injury management processes, as well as emergency preparedness planning and response;
  • Working with project managers and field supervisors to identify and address construction safety risks and promote ongoing worker engagement.

What You Bring

  • Valid Construction Safety Officer (CSO) certification from a recognized BC training provider;
  • At least five years of experience in a construction safety role, ideally within mechanical contracting, industrial, or commercial construction environments;
  • Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and applicable BC construction safety requirements;
  • Experience with hazard identification, risk assessments, incident investigations, fall protection, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, and exposure controls;
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with site teams and management;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic safety management systems;
  • A valid BC driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to project sites throughout Greater Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

What They Offer:

Four Lakes Mechanical offers competitive compensation of $38 to $45 per hour, along with extended health, dental and vision benefits, RRSP matching, and paid time off. Depending on the circumstances, a company vehicle or vehicle allowance may also be available. Employees have access to ongoing professional development and safety training, as well as the opportunity to play an important role in shaping and strengthening the company’s safety culture. This is a stable, long-term opportunity with a growing company that values collaboration, employee development, and shared success.

If you’re a safety professional who enjoys working directly with construction teams, building strong relationships, and making a meaningful impact on workplace safety, this is an opportunity to contribute to a growing mechanical contracting company.
