Job description

Are you a dedicated CPA looking to advance your leadership potential in public practice? We are currently seeking an ambitious and client-focused Audit Manager to join a premier accounting firm in downtown Calgary, Alberta. In this key role within the finance & accounting sector, you will lead dynamic engagement teams, oversee a diverse portfolio of clients, and mentor the next generation of accounting professionals. The position operates under the Randstad Professional umbrella, connecting talented individuals with top-tier career growth opportunities.

As an Audit Manager, you will play a central role in managing client relationships, driving engagement efficiency, and coordinating multi-disciplinary engagement teams. This position is ideal for a designated CPA with 2 to 4 years of post-designation experience (or 5 to 7 years of total experience leading up to designation) who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will work on an active finance & accounting portfolio that features an even split between owner-managed entrepreneurial private ventures and public companies. The position offers a flexible hybrid work model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote after probation) and standard core office hours.

Working as an Audit Manager through Randstad Professional, you will act as a primary liaison between clients and firm leadership. You will manage up to five concurrent client files sequentially, ensuring technical accuracy across audit, review, and compilation engagements. If you are passionate about public practice, team building, and delivering high-impact business advice, this finance & accounting opportunity is designed for your long-term success.

Advantages
• Competitive salary range of $98,000 to $125,000 per year, reflective of experience and hour commitments.
• Comprehensive paid time off, including 4 weeks of vacation and 8 flex days annually.
• Annual fitness subsidy up to $1,000 plus monthly parking subsidy provisions.
• Firm-paid extended health and dental coverage plans.
• Flexible hybrid work environment (3 days in-office, 2 days work-from-home) with flexible core hours.
• Wellness programs and full access to mental health resources.
• Firm-sponsored social functions and a highly collaborative workplace culture.

Responsibilities
• Manage and review audit, review, and compilation engagements across diverse industry sectors.
• Prepare and review corporate and personal income tax returns, along with related CRA regulatory filings.
• Direct and mentor engagement teams, resolving technical file issues and managing overall workflow.
• Act as a primary point of contact for clients, building and sustaining meaningful professional relationships.
• Set, monitor, and maintain file engagement budgets and ensure strict adherence to deadlines.
• Apply technical expertise in ASPE and GAAP, with IFRS and public company engagement experience considered a strong asset.
• Utilize accounting software proficiently, including CaseWare, Taxprep, iFirm, and Microsoft Office.
• Participate actively in the training, development, and mentorship of CPA students and junior staff members.

Qualifications
• Designated CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) credential.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of overall public practice experience (with 2 to 4 years post-designation preferred).
• Mandatory public practice experience; industry-only accounting experience is not sufficient.
• Demonstrated track record in supervising engagement teams and managing workflow for multiple concurrent files.
• Strong technical background in tax preparation, assurance standards, and financial reporting.
• Outstanding written and verbal interpersonal communication skills for client and team interactions.
• A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a passion for employee mentorship and growth.
