Position Overview
HealthOPM is currently seeking a reliable and dedicated Housekeeper to support a retirement home in Goderich, Ontario.
The successful candidate will help maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This is a casual position, with shifts based on the facility's staffing needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general housekeeping and cleaning duties throughout the retirement home.
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, dining areas, and other designated spaces.
- Perform dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and frequently used areas.
- Follow proper infection prevention and cleaning procedures.
- Safely use cleaning products, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintain cleaning supplies and report shortages or equipment issues.
- Follow all facility health, safety, and sanitation policies.
- Respect residents' privacy, dignity, and personal belongings while performing housekeeping duties.
- Report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or other issues to the appropriate staff.
- Work collaboratively with the facility team to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Requirements
- Previous housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality, healthcare, or retirement-home experience is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact respectfully with seniors and residents.
- Physically capable of performing housekeeping duties, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Willingness to follow facility policies and infection-control procedures.
- Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) – required or willing to obtain one.
- Reliable transportation to the Goderich facility is an asset.
