Maintenance Facility Worker Non-Union - Permanent Full Time Location : Primarily on-site across Rygiel Supports for Community Living locations in Hamilton Rygiel Supports for Community Living is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals in the community who have a developmental disability, as well as other varying abilities. POSITION SUMMARY The Maintenance Facility Worker is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and upkeep of Rygiel Supports for Community Living properties. This includes general maintenance, repairs, preventative care, and support for facility improvement projects. The ideal candidate will possess a relevant trade certification, ticket, or diploma and demonstrate the ability to work independently while prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES General Maintenance & Repairs : Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting. Troubleshoot, repair, or escalate facility and equipment issues as needed. Maintain cleanliness and safety of tools, supplies, and work areas. Preventative Maintenance : Conduct scheduled inspections and maintenance to prevent breakdowns and ensure systems remain operational. Maintain and update maintenance logs and records. Facility Support & Safety : Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and regulations, including fire safety equipment checks and emergency systems. Respond promptly to maintenance requests, safety hazards, and emergency repairs. Assist with seasonal duties, such as snow removal, landscaping, and exterior property upkeep. Project & Improvement Support : Assist in renovation and improvement projects as required. Coordinate with external contractors and vendors, ensuring quality work and timely completion. Inventory & Resource Management : Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies. Monitor and report on necessary purchases for maintenance operations. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Completion of a relevant trade certification, ticket, or post-secondary diploma (e.g., HVAC, Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing, Building Maintenance, or Facilities Management). Minimum of 2 years' experience in facility maintenance or a related field. Strong working knowledge of building systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical). Proficiency with hand and power tools. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Understanding of workplace safety regulations and best practices (OHSA). Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and perform physical tasks safely. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills (verbal and written). Commitment to maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace. Ability to work with various software applications WORKING CONDITIONS Primarily on-site across Rygiel Supports for Community Living locations. Must be available for on-call emergencies or after-hours work as required. Exposure to various indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
