Job description
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Grinder Operator to join a fast-paced plastics manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating grinding equipment, handling plastic materials, preventing contamination, cleaning equipment, and following all required safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate plastic grinding equipment.
- Inspect parts before grinding and remove foreign materials such as metal clips, plastic clips, felt, foam, and rubber.
- Ensure regrind materials are properly covered, labelled, and stored.
- Maintain a clean and organized grinding area.
- Power down equipment properly after use.
- Clean grinders thoroughly between different resin/material changeovers.
- Clean grinder chambers, blades, screens, hoppers, and drawers as required.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when cleaning equipment.
- Wear required PPE, including safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, mask, and hearing protection.
- Assist with emptying scrap bins and general material-handling duties when required.
- Monitor equipment and immediately report unusual noise, excessive dust, smoke, or other issues.

Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of plastics manufacturing experience preferred; training may be provided.
- Grade 12 education or equivalent preferred.
- Basic math, English, reading, and writing skills.
- Ability to identify and properly handle different types of plastic resins.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing quality and environmental procedures.
- Ability to follow forms, tags, labels, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, and quality. Grinder 2024
