AECOM Buildings + Places, our company's Architectural business, is seeking a Building Commissioning Engineer. This position will be based out of our Calgary office with opportunities for hybrid work.

AECOM Buildings + Places Canada is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Healthcare, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer to deliver Building Commissioning services, following industry-standard procedures such as ASHRAE 202 and CSA-Z320 and CAN/ULC-S1001.
  • Gathers and correlates engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Plans, coordinates, and documents commissioning activities at every stage of design, construction, handover, warranty closeout.
  • Chairs and records commissioning coordination meetings.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with internal and external Commissioning team members of diverse disciplines.
  • Reviews technical documentation such as Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural design packages; contractor submittals; operations and maintenance manuals; record documents; to comment on alignment with Owner Project Requirements and technical best practices.
  • Visits project sites including existing facilities and active construction sites in the performance of Building Commissioning work.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to perform building commissioning activities.


      Qualifications

      Minimum Requirements:

      In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess the below, at a very minimum:

      • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering + 2 years of relevant experience in delivering Building Commissioning services as described above.
      • Alberta driver's license and ability to travel for site visits throughout Canada, including remote locations

      Preferred Requirements:

      • 5 years of relevant experience in delivering Building Commissioning services as described above, or
      • Experience in Building Commissioning for buildings projects within Transit and Municipal, Healthcare, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government preferred.
      • Experience with projects targeting sustainability certifications such as LEED preferred.
      • Building mechanical system design experience including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection an asset.
      • Ability to pass a background check for project-specific work.
      • Professional Engineering license with APEGA or membership with ASET.

      • Relocation is not available for this position.
