OVERVIEW
A well-established and respected seafood processing and logistics
operation in BC's wild seafood industry is seeking a highly motivated,
hands-on Assistant Operations Manager to support the Senior Vice
President of Operations with the day-to-day execution of logistics,
fleet coordination, and plant operations.
The right candidate is currently working on fishing vessels as a
fishing professional — a fisherman, deckhand, or similar — and is
ready to transition from the water to the docks. This role is built
for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and
enjoys being both on the floor and in the field. You will work closely
with the Senior VP of Operations and senior leadership to ensure
seamless coordination between fishing vessels, logistics, and plant
operations.
This is not a desk-only role. You will be in the warehouse, on the
dock, coordinating freight, solving real-time issues, and building
relationships with fishermen and internal teams.
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Direct, hands-on experience working aboard commercial fishing
vessels (e.g., fisherman, deckhand, vessel crew) — required
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- High level of initiative, accountability, and self-motivation
- Ability to operate autonomously and think ahead (foresight)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Team-oriented with a hands-on mindset
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Experience in logistics, operations, or supply chain
- Forklift experience (or willingness to obtain certification)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
