Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Engineer Manager to join our Project Delivery Group, providing management, technical leadership and world-class design expertise to Hatch's metals and mining business units.

As an Engineer Manager, you will contribute to the development of pursuits and management of engagements for all including pre-feasibility, feasibility, and detailed design phases.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring Hatch values, including our commitment to safety, are embedded throughout the opportunity identification, pursuit, project development and delivery.
• Developing project scopes, resource estimates, schedules, and budgets.
• Working with the project manager to provide active management of progress through earned value, cost-performance, and schedule performance metrics to ensure projects remain on track and within cost and schedule targets.
• Coordination of multidisciplinary teams across engineering, project controls, procurement, construction/commissioning planning, environmental disciplines and others as required for a particular project.
• Embedding value optimization practices, including design reviews and risk analyses, to maximize project value.
• Provide input into the engagement monthly report with respect to design progress, actual cost against budget, earned progress against plan, issues of concern and
  recommendations when required to achieve overall objectives.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Construction, Environmental, Safety and commissioning personnel early in the design effort to obtain their input and conduct any necessary reviews.
• Ensuring compliance with engineering standards, environmental objectives, quality requirements and safety protocols.
• Fostering communication with clients, project teams and stakeholders.
• Working with regional/global leadership to pursue opportunities – developing proposals, estimates and presentations as needed.

You bring to the role:

• Typically 10+ years of experience delivering studies or projects in the mining and metals industry. Experience in multiple sectors or commodities advantageous but not specifically required.
• Typically 3 years’ experience in managing design engineering teams working
• BSc/BEng degree in an engineering discipline and registration as a Professional Engineer.
• General knowledge of industry, regulatory standards and codes, and design criteria in engineering disciplines
• Knowledge of 3D model/drawing production and document control methodologies
• Ability to handle complex problem-solving tasks, applying appropriate analysis and consideration of high-level technical detail.
• Ability to plan, coordinate and organize at an advanced level.
• Knowledge of project management fundamentals, including earned value management.
• Ability to adapt to constant change and accommodate high pressure situations to support the team in meeting project objectives.
• Strong communication skills across all levels including client representatives.
• Ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders involved in the project (including internal and external clients).
• A high emotional quotient (EQ) that can be applied to motivate teams, increase team efficiency, and aid in conflict resolution.

Base salary range: $165,000 - $190,000

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location.
