Performance Engineer

Our client, is seeking an experienced, highly technical Performance Engineer to join their core application engineering and quality optimization group.

In this hands-on technical role, you will lead end-to-end performance engineering activities across the entire software development lifecycle—from requirement gathering, workload modeling, and planning to scripting, execution, deep-dive analysis, and system tuning. Operating within a collaborative enterprise environment, you will build and run complex performance scenarios using JMeter, conduct deep-dive diagnostic monitoring with Dynatrace, and partner closely with cross-functional development, architecture, and infrastructure teams. The ideal candidate brings a holistic understanding of non-functional requirements (NFRs) and modern system architectures to diagnose bottlenecks, fine-tune application and database components, and ensure maximum stability, scalability, and speed for critical business systems.

Duration: 12-Month Contract (with high potential for extension or permanent conversion)

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Currently 2 days per week on-site at the corporate facility, 3 days remote)

Responsibilities
End-to-End Performance Lifecycle Management: Lead all performance engineering phases, including NFR gathering, test strategy definition, scenario scripting, test execution, bottleneck analysis, system tuning, and executive reporting.

Workload Modeling & Execution: Define realistic workload models, simulate production-like traffic patterns, and execute large-scale performance, load, stress, and endurance tests.

Deep-Dive Monitoring & Bottleneck Diagnostics: Utilize Dynatrace to perform real-time tracing and deep-dive diagnostics, identifying performance bottlenecks across microservices, databases, and infrastructure layers.

System & Database Tuning: Collaborate with developers and database administrators to recommend and apply targeted optimizations to fine-tune application code, database queries, and server configurations.

Cross-Functional Governance: Partner with architects, software engineers, site reliability teams, and business stakeholders to translate performance data into actionable engineering recommendations.



Qualifications
Performance Engineering Depth: Comprehensive, hands-on experience leading end-to-end performance testing and engineering initiatives for complex enterprise applications.

JMeter Mastery: Advanced proficiency developing, executing, and enhancing performance testing scripts and scenarios in JMeter using advanced custom scripting techniques.

Dynatrace Expertise: Strong expertise utilizing Dynatrace for deep-dive performance monitoring, APM tracing, and root-cause bottleneck diagnostics.

NFRs & Architecture Understanding: Solid comprehension of non-functional requirements (NFRs), cloud/on-prem system architectures, distributed microservices, and database technology stacks.

Analytical & Communication Skills: Exceptional problem-solving capabilities paired with clear written and verbal communication skills to present technical analysis to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Assets & Nice-to-Haves
Hands-on experience with log analytics and observability platforms such as Splunk or Datadog.

Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts, Chaos Engineering, and production workload monitoring.

Familiarity with Test Data Management (TDM) strategies and Service Virtualization tools (such as Mountebank).

Experience measuring client-side performance, browser rendering metrics, and end-user digital experience (DOM/RUM).
