Description

In this role, you will:

  • Support a wide variety of projects and day to day activities for Babcock Canada’s Prince Rupert Facility, with a focus on supporting the British Columbia Helicopter Emergency Medical Services program. No two days are exactly the same!
  • Working closely with Babcock’s Corporate Services teams (these teams include Facilities and Site Services, Health, Safety and Environment, and Procurement and Supply Chain), the successful candidate will:
o Inspect buildings and grounds regularly to spot repair needs.
o Ensure service contracts are established and adhered to.
o Coordinate tasks with outside vendors.
o Uphold health, fire, and safety rules onsite.
o Direct cleaning, security, and facility maintenance staff.
o Coordinate office moves and layout changes.
o Seek cost-effective improvement initiatives regarding the facility’s management and services.
o Work within Babcock’s established processes and communicate proactively with all stakeholders.
  • Be the go to Babcock Canada on-site representative, serving as the primary point of contact for all facility and base related needs. Building strong, positive relationships with end users is key—you’ll take the time to understand what they need and help deliver solutions that work for all parties.
  • Reporting to the Head of Maintenance, you’ll collaborate with teammates across the Aircraft Maintenance and Facilities and Site Services group and partner with colleagues throughout Babcock’s broader matrix organization. Teamwork, clear communication, and living Babcock’s core principles will help drive great outcomes.
  • Lead Prince Rupert base related projects from start to finish—from initial planning through execution and close out. Along the way, you’ll keep things organized by managing documentation, scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables, while keeping an eye out for risks or changes that could affect progress.
  • Provide clear and effective communication on project status to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. This includes preparing written status updates as well as developing and delivering presentations for regular reporting cycles when required.
  • Attend project team meetings by contributing to structured agendas, capturing detailed minutes, maintaining action trackers, and proactively following up to drive progress and accountability.
  • Coordinate onsite work with trades and vendors, including preparing statements of work, overseeing activities while work is underway, acting as the main point of contact, and ensuring everything is completed safely and in line with expectations.
  • Balance hands on problem solving with solid project management skills. Your work could range from everyday operational tasks—like checking inventory, installing simple fixtures or scheduling third party contractors—to supporting larger facility initiatives and contributing to risk registers and updating project plans. This role does involve some physical tasks, as needed.
  • Follow corporate procedures, safety standards, and project specific requirements while maintaining a strong focus on quality and health & safety. Spot an issue? You’ll be encouraged to speak up early so it can be addressed quickly and safely.

The ideal candidate brings:

  • 4+ years relevant experience including experience successfully managing/maintaining a facility (or an equivalent mix of education and real world experience) with multiple stakeholders, including some hands on Project Management experience (1-2 years). You know how to juggle priorities and keep projects moving!
  • Relevant education in project management or an equivalent level of training and experience.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A positive, resilient, and adaptable mindset. You’re comfortable shifting gears as project demands change, and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed.
  • Practical “handy person” skills as a foundation—formal training isn’t required.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal—you’re comfortable sharing information clearly with a variety of audiences.
  • Experience and confidence using Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, & PowerPoint) and familiarity with project management software to keep everything organized and on track would be an asset.
  • Eligibility to obtain RCMP criminal record check clearance.
  • Basic technical aptitude and the ability to understand practical, on the ground requirements when working with trades and contractors.
  • Experience in an aviation environment (considered an asset).
