ABOUT THE EDMONTON CONVENTION CENTRE

The Edmonton Convention Centre is a world-class venue that drives economic growth, cultural exchange, and community connection in Edmonton. As a premier destination for conventions, conferences, festivals, and celebrations, we bring together thought leaders, artists, and communities while generating economic impact and supporting local businesses and partners. Its vision is to serve as a convention and event hub that inspires engagement, celebrates community identity, and shapes the future of urban vibrancy through excellence in service and experience.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Please note: This is a 12-month term position from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 18 months.

Explore Edmonton is seeking an Event Manager to help deliver exceptional events and client experiences at the Edmonton Convention Centre and across supported off-site venues.

Reporting to the Senior Event Manager, the Event Manager leads the planning and coordination of assigned events from booking through completion. Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, this role brings together operational teams, in-house partners, vendors, and external venues to translate event requirements into detailed plans and ensure seamless delivery.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and highly organized event professional who combines strong client relationship skills with sound judgment, attention to detail, and a solutions-focused approach. They are comfortable managing complex event logistics, balancing multiple priorities, anticipating challenges, and collaborating across teams to create exceptional experiences.

What you will do:

  • Manage assigned events from booking through completion, serving as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Build strong client relationships, understand event objectives and requirements, and translate them into detailed event plans and floor plans.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venue requirements, food and beverage, production, suppliers, contractors, operational needs, and off-site event requirements.
  • Lead event planning meetings, site visits, production meetings, test meals, and other client activities required to support successful event delivery.
  • Maintain accurate event plans, service orders, floor plans, costs, charges, and event details within Momentus.
  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, Culinary, in-house partners, external contractors, and off-site venues to coordinate event requirements and resolve issues.
  • Monitor events and provide onsite support to clients and operational teams, proactively troubleshooting issues and responding to changing needs.
  • Support post-event activities, including preliminary invoicing, event reviews, client feedback, and opportunities to continuously improve the event experience.
  • Ensure events comply with applicable regulatory requirements, venue procedures, and health and safety standards.
  • Stay current on event and venue trends, client needs, and industry best practices and contribute ideas that strengthen event delivery and the client experience.

What you bring:

  • Post-secondary education or a certificate in Event Management or a related field is an asset.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in event planning, client services, hospitality, or a related environment.
  • Strong client relationship and customer service skills, with the ability to confidently manage client expectations and address concerns.
  • Strong event planning, project management, organizational, and logistical coordination skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple events, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across internal teams, vendors, contractors, and external partners.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills; experience with event management systems is an asset.
  • Knowledge of event-related regulatory, health and safety, and venue requirements is an asset.
  • Ability to work onsite and accommodate event schedules, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Local travel may also be required to support off-site events.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

You are someone who can turn a client's vision into a well-executed event. You understand what it takes to bring together people, spaces, services, and details, and you know how to keep everything moving from initial planning through event completion.

You are comfortable managing multiple events and client relationships at once, providing clear direction, anticipating challenges, and making thoughtful decisions when plans change. You build strong relationships and work collaboratively with clients, operational teams, partners, vendors, and venues to find practical solutions and deliver on commitments.

Most importantly, you understand that exceptional events are built on strong relationships, thoughtful planning, attention to detail, and seamless execution. You take pride in creating memorable experiences that showcase Edmonton and leave clients and guests wanting to return.

WORKING AT EXPLORE EDMONTON

This role works in a dynamic, event-focused environment, with regular onsite work at the Edmonton Convention Centre and supported off-site venues. The nature of event delivery requires flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evenings, weekends, overtime, and travel as required.

HOW TO APPLY

If this role piques your interest, please submit your cover letter and resume no later than September 24, 2026.

Explore Edmonton encourages, supports, and celebrates a diverse and inclusive work environment. We strive to create a workplace that reflects the city we promote and where our employees feel safe and supported every day.
