Consider joining us as a Installer Technician if:

You are technically inclined, hands-on, and enjoy figuring out how things work. You have experience troubleshooting and solving mechanical challenges, and you are comfortable using manual and power tools to assemble, install, adjust, and repair equipment. You are computer savvy, detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn new software and product systems. You are friendly, empathetic, and motivated by helping clients gain independence, mobility, and safety in their daily lives.

About Motion:

Canadian-owned and operated, Motion is Canada’s leading full-service mobility and accessibility solutions provider and has served communities across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan for more than 40 years through our network of 48 locations. Our knowledgeable and caring team of experts supports individuals and those who care for them by delivering solutions that make life accessible for everyone. Our products include wheelchairs, walkers, mobility scooters, power lift recliners, lifting devices, homecare and adjustable beds, bathroom safety items, and more. Whether our clients are aged 1 or 100, we have products to ensure the independence, mobility, and safety of clients of all ages.

The role:

We are adding a compassionate and knowledgeable Installer Technician to our team in St Catharines, Ontario. In this role, you will install, assemble, troubleshoot, adjust, and repair mobility and accessibility equipment for clients. You will work with manual and power mobility devices, seating components, lifting devices ( VPL, Stairlifts, Ceiling tracks), and other accessibility solutions, travelling to private residences, healthcare facilities, and community sites to complete installations and service work. You will also use vendor software and internal systems to support programming, documentation, order review, and equipment setup so each solution meets the client’s needs.

What’s in it for you:

Growth opportunity. This is a chance to gain deep and practical insights into our industry, be involved in every aspect of what we do, and take ownership for your own success. You will learn the functionality and benefits of our products and services, and work in partnership with healthcare providers, clients, and your colleagues to ensure an exceptional client experience.

Impact. Every day at Motion provides a new opportunity to create a tangible impact on the lives of our clients. You will find deep professional satisfaction knowing that your work matters to people in your community and beyond.

Professional development and networking. At Motion, we nurture a continuous learning and skills development environment. You will have:

  • Access to our internal Learning Portal, where we have a vast library of training on our products and processes and professional development topics.
  • The opportunity to work with industry leaders who will guide you on your journey and ensure you have the tools you need to succeed.
  • The chance to attend industry events, including Motion’s own Rehab Expos, where you can network with vendors, occupational therapists, and your peers.

How you will spend your days:

  • Install, assemble, and adjust equipment. You will work with mobility and accessibility products, including wheelchairs, mobility scooters, seating components, lifting devices ( VPL, Ceiling tracks, stairlifts, ramps etc), and related equipment. You will assemble products, complete installations, make adjustments, and ensure equipment is safe, functional, and ready for client use.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair. You will assess issues with manual and power devices, troubleshoot batteries, components, and functionality, and repair or replace parts as needed.
  • Use software and internal systems. You will navigate internal databases, review orders, upload files, and work with vendor software programs to support equipment setup and programming requirements.
  • Deliver an exceptional Motion customer experience. You will work directly with clients, caregivers, healthcare providers, vendors, and internal teams. You will prioritize an empathetic, respectful, and friendly experience while ensuring each client’s needs are understood and met.
  • Be flexible and mobile. You will travel throughout the region to clients’ homes, healthcare settings, and community facilities. You are comfortable adapting your daily schedule to meet changing client needs and service priorities.

What you bring:

  • Technical skills. You have previous experience in customer service and assembling, installing, repairing, or troubleshooting equipment. You may have worked as an apprentice, mechanic, installer, technician, or in a role where you built, repaired, or maintained furniture, equipment, vehicles, or mechanical systems.
  • Computer and software confidence. You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, comfortable navigating databases, and able to learn new software quickly. Experience with power equipment, programming, diagnostics, or vendor software is an asset.
  • Attention to detail. You are organized, methodical, and able to review orders, follow processes, document work, and ensure equipment is installed and adjusted accurately to meet client needs.
  • Empathy and communication. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills. You can navigate client interactions in a friendly, professional, and compassionate manner, manage changing priorities, and understand the impact mobility and accessibility equipment has on people’s lives.
  • Additional must-have requirements. You have a valid G-class driver’s license and a clean driving record.
